Emergency Procedures
In the event of an emergency the school has a plan which outlines all procedures that school staff and designated Governors must follow. There are a few pieces of information from this which it would be useful for you to be aware of.
In any emergency which would involve the school being evacuated OR going into a state of lockdown, the following would apply. This is standard procedure, and we hope that you would understand the need for this in the remote possibility that it should be necessary.
Communication between Parents and the School
In the event of an actual emergency; any incident or development will be communicated to parents as soon as is practicable via Class Dojo. In the event of an IT system failure the 'snow tree' will be activated to provided the necessary information.
Parents are requested to adhere to the following guidelines:
Be assured that the school understands your concern for your child’s welfare, and that all staff are doing everything possible to ensure his/her safety;
Do not contact the school. Calling the school will tie up telephone lines that may be needed for contacting emergency providers. Staff will be unable to respond to individual messages via Dojo and will not enter into any discussion via Class Dojo post comments;
Do not come to the school. You could interfere with emergency provider’s access to the school and may even put yourselves and others in danger;
Please do not speculate on social media or use Class Dojo for this purpose - we will contact you as soon as possible with factual information;
Wait for us to contact you about when to collect your children, and where this will be from.
Exercises
It is of vital importance that the school’s emergency procedures are familiar to all members of the school staff e.g. senior management team, school administrators, teaching staff and non-teaching staff. Pupils will also be aware of some parts of the plan e.g. fire evacuation procedures.
