If you would like any more information about the curriculum please have a look at each individual class page or contact school on 01229717664.

At Waberthwaite C of E School, we are proud of the rich and deep curriculum we offer through a broad range of experiences and activities. We learn through class topics and work indoors, outdoors and off site so that learning is not segmented into subjects or just at school. Instead, pupils apply their knowledge, skills and ideas to all experiences.

Our aim is to motivate, enhance and support learning by making learning meaningful, creative and enjoyable . We often do this by joining different elements of the National Curriculum together and exploiting the wealth of opportunity that the local area has to offer.

Many activities are planned to meet a number of the National Curriculum strand in a creative way and as we teach in mixed age classes due to smaller class sizes, this can often mean a thematic approach to teaching is taken to meet the different needs and curriculum content required. Lessons can also be taught on a rolling programme on a year-by-year basis, to ensure all children complete all curriculum content. These are subject to change at staff discretion, however current themes and curriculum coverage plans are included on each individual class page.

Have a look on the individual class pages to see some examples our broad and balanced curriculum in action in each mixed-age class!

For more information on any of our curriculum please contact your child's class teacher in the first instance. Thank you.
