Listen up and speak out. Flourishing is not a solo endeavour!
'Staff create a strong culture so that new pupils feel welcome in the school.' OFSTED 2024
Thank you so much for your application to the Picture News Impact Awards 2024. Your application has been heartfelt throughout the Picture News office...
We have decided to award you with a Gold Impact Award. You have clearly been a strong support for many people within your community...
Vision:
As a school, we use Picture News to explore Christian and British values in a whole school context. Each class teacher then weave both Christian and British Values through our whole school curriculum, alongside some 'stand-alone' class or school events which are used to embed or deepen our understanding.
We receive regular visits from our PCSO's to talk to us about important topics.
We speak to our local MP as part of UK parliament week to give the children a real insight into the democratic process and an overview of UK government and also the opportunity to discuss local, regional and global issues such as how to improve local services for children and climate change and the impact of national policy on future generations.
We learn all about life of a British Muslim and how their core faith values link with those of Christianity from our friend Imran from Muslim Learner Services.
We visit a mosque in Liverpool and a synagogue in Manchester to learn more about our friends who follow other faiths and their places of worship.
We have twinned with St Bees Shijiazhuang to develop our global awareness and to learn more about Chinese language and culture. Our relationship continues to develop and we are looking forward to beginning a new phase of communication to enrich our own curriculum. We will be creating recorded video content to share with St Bees SJZ about ourselves and our curriculum. We will be creating learning videos and documentaries to teach our Chinese friends all about our lives and our local geography and history along with national news, British values and culture. In return they will be teaching us about Chinese culture and language.
We are annually joined by the Royal British Legion and the Royal Naval Association our remembrance service. They lead an assembly for us on the importance of remembering those who served for us and linked it to our learning of British history. We lay the poppy wreath on the cenotaph together and they play The Last Post whilst we remember those who served and gave their lives.
If you have any further queries, you can contact our school administrator, Mrs Yvonne Hey, in a number of ways.
