Autumn 2023
What a start to our Extreme Earth topic! We have learnt lots about volcanoes and where they are around the world – even in Antarctica! We are looking forward to continuing to find out about our extreme earth: earthquakes and different extreme weathers!
In D&T we had lots of fun designing, making and evaluating Ferris Wheels – they turned out brilliantly and we are very proud of them!
Learning Around the Classroom Challenges
This half-term we introduced ‘Learning Around the Classroom challenges’ where we are set a number of challenges weekly that we complete independently. These can be anything from creating wonderful pieces of artwork or models, to using atlases to help us label a world map. Here are some of the challenges we have completed…
We have experimented with different techniques and materials to create images of a volcano…
We have labelled world maps with the continents and also with countries where there are volcanoes…
We have designed and made models of volcanoes and modes of transport to escape an erupting volcano…
Bags for Bugs
Mrs Windzor has set us the challenge to fill a bag with things that can be used to fill the bug hotels at St John’s Church in Waberthwaite.
We enjoyed welcoming Mrs Winzor into class 2 and sharing our ideas for the bug hotels.
