All of our Key steps 1, 2 and 3 teams will be representing Copeland at the County Key Steps Gymnastics competition in Penrith. Wish us luck!
February 2024
Our Key Steps 3 gymnastics team competed at Netherall School in Maryport in the South Copeland Small Schools . They were victorious and will go on to represent Copeland in the small schools County Key Steps 3 finals at Penrith at the end of March!
Our Year 3 and 4 Key steps 2 gymnastics team took part in the South Copeland regional competition in Millom. Our 6 competitors completed both a floor routine and a vault in an attempt to make it to the County Finals... and they did! Well done to those pupils who will be representing Copeland in Penrith next month!
January 2024
Our 10 qualifying children represented Copeland at the Cumbria Schools Athletics Association finals at Hunter Hall School in Penrith. With 90 schools represented from 6 districts of Cumbria, the atmosphere was electric!
Congratulations to all of our pupils for showing such resilience and endurance in some very large and competitive races!
Results:
Year 4 girls: Charley (6th), Molly (48th), April (49th) and Isla (98th)
Year 4 boys: Jack (78th)
Year 5 girls: Olivia (78th), Amelia (79th)
Year 5 boys: Franklin (60th), Casper (102nd)
Year 6 boys: Logan (90th)
South Copeland Sportshall Athletics
14 Year 4, 5 and 6 pupils represented our school at the South Copeland athletics festival - competing against other schools from the Millom area. They partoicipated with great enthusiasm and came 3rd in the competition. Well done!
November 2023
Class 3 completed their residential visit to Manchester and took part in a skiing lesson at Chille Factore and also a climbing session at Rock Up, Manchester.

Millom Area Inter-Schools Cross Country Event
Huge congratulations to all of our Year 3, 4, 5 and 6 pupils who participated in the South Copeland interschool cross country competition.
Congratulations to Joseph on becoming Millom area's inter-schools Year 3 boys cross country champion! What a race!
Also, huge congratulations to Charley for becoming Year 4 girls cross country champion following on from last years win too!
A huge well done also to George (Y3 boys) and Molly (Year 4 girls) on coming second and April (Year 4 girls) and Franklin (Year 5 boys) on placing 3rd in their races.
Thank you so much to Years 3, 4, 5 and 6 for a fabulous afternoon at the Millom Schools Cross Country competition held at Black Combe School. The sun shone and the children could not have represented us better. Mrs Cummings and I were so fortunate to be able to join you at this event and were so proud of your achievements. (Mrs C)

All of Year 3 and Year 4 represented our school at the South Copeland Inter-school multiskills festival. They showed teamwork, passion and honesty. Well done everyone and we hope you had great fun!

100% of our Key Stage 2 children have completed 2 terms of swimming this year and 100% of our Year 6 pupils are leaving us having achieved all of the national curriculum requirements for swimming and water safety. Living in the Lake District and by the sea - nothing could be more important for the safety and wellbeing of our children.
We are proud of our commitment to and investment in swimming!

Our wonderful gymnastics team represented Copeland in the small schools category of the Cumbria Key Steps Gymnastics competition in Penrith. The team were such a credit to the school and their families. We are so proud of you girls!

We are the children of Waberthwaite School and we are Copeland Small Schools Key Steps 2 Gymnastics Champions!
Our amazing team of 6 children from Year 3 and 4 competed in the Copeland area gymnastics competition and won the small schools division and are now off to the County finals to be held in Penrith. Well done Team Waberthwaite!
Class 2 held an intra-school Key Steps 2 gymnastics competition since as all of the children had worked so hard practising the moves and perfecting their routine. All of the children achieved gold or silver awards - well done everyone!

It has been lovely to see our Year 5 and 6 children volunteering to lead games with the younger children and teach them focused play. What fantastic role models you all are!

Wheelchair basketball
We are the children on Waberthwaite School... we are inclusive!
We had a visit from Nat and Jack at NP Inclusive Sports. All of the children, from nursery to Year 6, enjoyed participating in the inclusive sport of wheelchair basketball and learning more about how sport can be adapted to be fair and enjoyable for all.

Millom Area Inter-Schools Cross Country Event

A huge well done also to Max on coming second in the Year 5 and 6 boys race and to Molly on coming 3rd in the Year 3 and 4 girls race.
Thank you so much to Years 3, 4, 5 and 6 for a fabulous afternoon at the Millom Schools Cross Country competition held at Black Combe School. I was literally bursting with pride watching all of our children run in their cross country races. The determination and self-belief they showed was incredible and the compassion and respect they had for others was fantastic. The behaviour of our children was, as usual, second to none and it was an absolute pleasure to join them on the trip. (Mrs Cummings)
