Class 1

Autumn 2023

Pumpkin baking

Year 1 have been busy baking some cupcakes using a pumpkin from Jack's garden. Working together and carefully following instructions to add the oil, eggs, raisins, pumpkin, flour and rising again.

EYFS made pumpkin cookies

Harvest Festival

All children read The Little Red Hen and made their own bread for the Harvest Festival at school.

Music

As part of music we have been listening to "We are Going on a Bear Hunt"

We laid all the instruments on the floor in the middle of our circle. We took turns to experiment with the different instruments. We used the instruments to represent the sound to match the story.
Which instrument worked best? Why?Should it be played loudly or softly for the whirling swirling snowstorm?

The children took it in turns to play the different instruments.

Geography

Year 1 have been drawing aerial maps of the classroom. This afternoon we all drew one and put an "x" for our treasure- where we had hid our teddy bear and asked the rest of year 1 to find it using the map. We were so excited by our exploring that Mrs Cummings came to join us 😊

Playdoh

Every Monday morning the children in nursery make their own play dough, add enhancements and enjoy playing with it for the rest of the week. Great to develop independence, problem solving and developing fine motor skills.
